My upcoming solo show dates have been confirmed. The dates are 24th April to the 30th May. The opening celebration is from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Saturday the 27th of April, at Sunshine Art Spaces, City Place Sunshine. My fresh box of paper arrived today. So now I need to find and confirm frame sizes before I start the final preparations for this solo show.
The National Gallery of Victoria recently had a festival of design, Melbourne Design Week. Part of this festival is the Melbourne Art Book Fair. I take part each year wth the Melbourne Photobook Collective. I am still selling the same books since we began, and they are slowly getting sold. I have a couple of ideas… Continue reading Melbourne Art Book Fair 2019
I am planning on applying for a solo show in the near future at my local community gallery.
The exhibit will be about my experience of Sunshine, in the last 18 years, we moved here in 2000. Initially when I thought of the idea I imagined I would have plenty of imagery. Well after 3 or 4 sessions printing, not so many it seems. This will impact on the timeline for when I exhibit and which dates will suit me.
Here are 18 prints chosen so far. By my calculation 20 to 25 would be a more desirable number. This means more shooting, not a bad thing, I’m just surprised at how few good images I have?
I visited Adelaide for the opening of the exhibition that Gary had organised and was asked to give a floor talk at Atkins Photo Lab. The talk is below, slightly edited. I made a few pictures on the way over too. Thank you everyone for coming tonight. Thanks also to Paul and the Atkins lab… Continue reading Atkins Floor Talk
The exhibition I am participating in Adelaide in is now being hung by Gary and Paul. Gary has been writing some fabulous articles about it all, this link takes you through to one. So fabulous I’m not saying too much either way. Here’s another out take from the show.
Another two days of productive activity sees me closer to the final edit that I hope will be about 12. It has been an interesting journey printing negatives made over an extended period. The oldest negative date from about 1992, the newest this year. In the next few days I shall begin the laborious task… Continue reading Counting down the days
I am madly preparing for an exhibition that my curator friend Gary has organised this year in Adelaide. The work I’m printing is from my archive and has several decisions driving the final outcome. The size of the prints is the first issue for me to ponder, the second the quantity. If I print large,… Continue reading Exhibition Preparation
Recently I wrote about the year ahead and the exhibitions that I had either confirmed or was planning on confirming. As of this week the last of these exhibitions were locked in. I’m having an exhibition with Gary Sauer-Thompson at Atkins Photo lab as part of the SALA festival this year. Gary and I often… Continue reading Moving forward by looking backward?
My most recent project where I worked with SBS, the CCP and Brimbank council has almost reached its conclusion. I spent several weeks photographing in and around Sunshine. I have to thank PIC photographic imaging college for the loan of the digital hardware needed to complete this project. All in all I shot about 554… Continue reading Almost complete project!
